I love this new Empire of the Sun video for ‘Walking on a Dream’. It gives an underground indie feel to traditional/modern mixed Chinese imagery – the tilt up roofs, the clothes, the colours, and interplayed views of the bustling city of Shanghai (I think?). Released around the same time as the Beijing Olympics, this could either be seen as a promo tactic or a statement about how this Asian behemoth is influencing western culture. I really love the street shots of the city in dispersed with the wide building shots. It portrays China to a level of architectural beauty that certainly renders it tempting for my next holiday destination.
The song itself is pretty rad too, but I’ll let you form an opinion on that. I’m a PNAU fan, and most definately now an Empire of the Sun fan. I rate this video 4 stars out of the ‘Margeret and David at the Movies’ 5 star rating standards.
